Jules Colina

Director & Master Coach

I’ve been coaching and playing for Optimum Beach since 2015 because I truly believe it’s the best beach volleyball program in Florida that develops the entire athlete. We focus on the physical, mental, and emotional side of the game while using it as a conduit for improving one’s personal life. As a player learning under Director Priscilla-Piantadosi Lima for so many years, it’s been so beneficial to be able to speak the same language to my own athletes ensuring congruence throughout the club. We not only take pride in the level of training and performance, but also in our Family First philosophy. We take care of each other on and off the court making our teammates and athletes feel like they have a judgement free home.

I have coached club since 2011 and started coaching at the high school level 2013 until present while taking a few years in 2015/2016 to assist with Eckerd College’s indoor and beach team. I now resided as head varsity coach at Cambridge Christian high school entering my fourth season in 2020 and co-director of Optimum Beach volleyball where I coach year-round.

Delaney Clesen

Coach | Social Media Team
Juniors Coach | Mindset & Motivational Coach | Social Media Team

Delaney began her journey with Optimum Beach in January 2020 when she moved to St. Petersburg to pursue her pro beach career with Director Pri Piantadosi-Lima as her coach. She quickly adopted the Optimum Beach mentality and has been working with the beginners, juniors, and CRTP players! Delaney chose Optimum Beach because of the team atmosphere that she missed from indoor and the high level of mental and technical training from Coach Pri.

Before Optimum, Delaney was the libero at the University of Pittsburgh (2011-2014) and then was awarded the opportunity to play on the USA Women’s Collegiate National Team in 2014. She then continued her indoor career with one professional season overseas in Switzerland. Delaney switched to the sand for her 5th year when she played two beach seasons at Florida Atlantic University (2015-2016). Delaney has been coaching high school indoor and beach as well as club indoor and beach for the past 5 years and is excited she has finally found her home at Optimum!

Tristan Vassberg

Jrs & Women’s Pro Asst Coach

Tristan coaches all ages, however he excels with anyone who’s excited to learn, confident, process-oriented, and patient. He’s currently studying biomedical sciences at USF with a minor in biomedical physics, and he hopes to continue his education with a career in chiropractic. He’s played on numerous USAV junior teams, beach and indoors, and played indoors collegiately as a libero. He has served as an indoor volunteer assistant coach at Eckerd college and (most likely) USF this fall.

He joined Optimum when his journey brought him to Florida, and has represented the club ever since. He loves being a member of the Optimum family for the superior mental and physical training offered, for it is truly the best in the country. He has enjoyed perfecting the art of volleyball under Pri and Jules, and helping grow the game alongside them. He believes the fun comes from the community, the growth, and the adrenaline.

Sammy Gibson

Women’s Pro Assistant Coach

After growing up on the south shore of Long Island playing high level indoor volleyball and limited amounts of beach volleyball all through High School, I played one year of college indoor volleyball at Hunter College in NYC. In 2019 I decided to transfer to UT and move to Tampa to focus on the beach full time, I knew getting to train and coach year round was vital for my beach career. My passion for the game is limitless and is poured into my coaching, training and competing! He is currently part of USAVBeach Collegiate National Team Member and a Student Assistant Coach for University Of Tampa Beach.

I was introduced to Optimum through fellow coach Tristan Vassburg and immediately wanted to be involved in all aspects of the program. I found through Pri’s coaching and mentorship I was able to catapult my game and mind to the next level. I can’t wait for my future with the Optimum team!

Amber Bennett

Jrs Coach & Social Media Team

Amber has coached every age group, level and gender possible; from hyper kindergartners to weekend warriors! She graduated from Tulane University in 2014 after playing on the indoor and beach volleyball teams and currently plays for the US Virgin Island National Beach Volleyball team. Amber moved to St Pete in 2015 after a teammate found out about Optimum Beach and she’s been hooked ever since! For the past 5 years, she has served in several positions (co-director, 14U indoor coach, a beach coach) and now operates the Optimum Beach social media pages, filling in as a coach when needed.

Amber chose Optimum because of Director Pri Piantadosi-Lima’s coaching and playing bio and stays for the excellent physical and mental training, and sense of family. She believes even the tough practices are fun because of the camaraderie between all of the athletes and coaches.

Ivey Andrews

Adults | Juniors Coach

Ivey has coached a variety of ages through her volleyball career. She Typically runs groups of younger children between 8-14 oe our Adult beginner groups. Ivey is currently a student and Division 2 athlete at Eckerd College in St.Petersburg Florida. She was born in Los Angeles, California and moved to Atlanta, Georgia when she was young. That’s where she discovered her love for Beach volleyball and how she ended up coaching and playing with Optimum Beach. Last year as a sophomore she was named one of Eckerd‘s captains and going into her junior year will continue to lead her teammates on and off the court.

Ivey has been coaching under Optimum Beach for two years now. She chose Optimum Beach because of the club’s director Pri and the culture the club has.

“ I believe Pri, Jules and the other coaches on the Optimum Beach staff focus on the importance of the physical and mental game, but they also prepare both children and adults for real life situations. When I started with Optimum this caught my eye. It was something I had never seen from a program – the drive to advance not only the athletes skill but their personhood as well. And that is why I wanted to become part of this program”.

Sam Crankshaw

Little Big Spikers Coach

My name is Sam Crankshaw I am from Batavia, IL. I am a senior at Eckerd College and I am on the beach volleyball team.

I have been playing beach volleyball since I was 14 years old when I started training with Team One Volleyball Club in Aurora, IL!

I have been coaching with optimum for 1 year (I think? It’s only been about 1 year since I started helping with LBS)

Optimum Beach is a one of a kind volleyball club. Pri and the other incredible coaches not only teach you how to be the best volleyball player you can be, but challenge you mentally and emotionally to break outside of your comfort zone and become the best version of yourself every single day. I have found another home and family with Optimum and the amazing people!

Christi Etches

Little Big Spikers Coach

A former Honduran National Beach Volleyball athlete, Christi competed in NORCECA tournaments throughout North and Central America, Central American and the Caribbean Games and the Central American Games.

Former dual sport D1 athlete at USF, Soccer and Track and Field.

She graduated from USF in 2007 and moved home to Roatan, Honduras where she worked both as a scuba diving instructor and as an environmental educator at the Roatan Marine Park, a local Non-profit, as well as training as a National athlete.

She has recently moved back to Tampa Bay with her family and she’s excited to get into the Beach Volleyball scene!
She enjoys being outdoors, wood working, cooking and just hanging out with good people!

While playing in NORCECA she heard about Pri and Optimum Beach. Our reputation and the results she saw from fellow athletes sealed the deal for her. According to Chrsiti, she knew that if she was ever back in Florida that is who she would train with.

In addition to getting back into training herself, she is excited and grateful to be able to share her love and passion for the game and the life lessons that come with it with the next generation.
